Your Local Emergency Plumber in Bedminster
When you need an emergency plumber, distance makes a big difference. A team on the other side of the city might quote two hours. We’re based in Bedminster’s own postcode, so we can often get to you much faster.
Why Being in BS3 Matters
Our vans leave from Bristol Vale Trading Estate, just off Hartcliffe Way. From there, most of Bedminster is a quick drive, even in rush hour. That means less water damage, less mopping up and a smaller bill for repairs afterwards.
Nearby Areas
We work right across Bedminster and the streets around it, including Southville, Windmill Hill, Ashton, Bedminster Down and Bishopsworth. Whether you’re just off East Street or round the corner from North Street, we know the area well.

- Blocked and overflowing toilets
- Blocked sinks and drains

Common Plumbing Problems in Bedminster
Plenty of Bedminster homes still have some original plumbing hidden away. These homes have plenty of character, but they also have plumbing quirks that catch people out in an emergency.
Finding Your Stopcock
In older homes, the stopcock is rarely where you’d expect. Check under the stairs, beneath the floorboards just inside the front door or at the back of the kitchen. Some were moved during past renovations and boxed in behind units. If you can’t find yours, call us. We’ll help you locate it over the phone while we’re on our way.
Old Lead and Iron Pipework
Homes built before the 1970s may still have lead or galvanised iron pipes somewhere in the system. These corrode over time, and old joints are often the first thing to give way under pressure. If we find old pipework during a repair, we’ll tell you and explain your options. You can read more about lead pipes on the Drinking Water Inspectorate website.
Leaks Between Converted Flats
Many Bedminster terraces have been split into flats. A leak in an upstairs bathroom often shows up first as a stain on the ceiling below. We’ll trace it to its source, even when it starts in the flat above.
Older home, old pipes, new leak? Call 0117 939 1421 and get a plumber who knows Bedminster’s houses inside out.

We called MPW Group SW Ltd to request an emergency plumber after our macerator toilet got blocked. They were able to send someone out within the hour and gave the hourly price in advance so we knew how much we would potentially be spending which was a huge bonus. The Plumber (Zach I think it was) came out and was amazing. He was polite, explained everything and then removed the blockage, checked the drains and also took time to ensure that the blades in the unit were still in working order. Once he was done we had a call from the owner to check that all was ok and that we were happy with the service. He informed us how much it would cost and advised he would send the invoice across. We were happy with the amount considering the situation we were in. Thank you! Much appreciated and apologies for the delay in the review. I would recommend MPW in the future.Posted on Google![]()

We had our air conditioning installed today by Dave and Ben from MPW, and we could not be happier with the service we received. From our initial enquiry, the response time was incredibly quick, and the excellent service continued right through to the installation. Dave and Ben were professional, friendly, hardworking, and incredibly tidy. Their workmanship was excellent, and they took real pride in doing a first class job. They were happy to answer any questions and made the whole installation process smooth and stress free. A special mention has to go to Ben. He really gives you faith in the younger generation. He was polite, friendly, respectful, and worked incredibly hard throughout the day. He is a real credit to MPW. We would not hesitate to recommend MPW to anyone looking for air conditioning installation. Fantastic customer service, a quick response from the very beginning, excellent workmanship, and a genuinely great team. Thank you, Dave, Ben and Matt.
Emergency Call-Outs We Handle in Bedminster
Every emergency is different, but some come up again and again in BS3. Here’s how we deal with the most common ones.
Burst and Frozen Pipes
Pipes in unheated spaces, such as lofts, outside toilets and rear extensions, are the most likely to freeze and split. Shut off the water, then call us. We’ll replace the damaged section and lag any exposed runs while we’re there.
Blocked Toilets and Drains
Terraced streets often share drainage runs behind the houses. Since 2011, shared drains and sewers that serve more than one property have usually been the responsibility of the water company. In Bedminster, that’s Wessex Water. If the blockage is within your own property, we’ll clear it and find out what caused it.
When the Boiler Is the Real Problem
Sometimes no hot water turns out to be a boiler fault, not a plumbing one. Our engineers are Gas Safe registered under number 575088, so the same visit can often cover both. Find out more about our emergency boiler repairs.
Flooded Kitchens and Bathrooms
A split washing machine hose can flood a kitchen in minutes. Turn the water off at the stopcock, switch off nearby electrics and move what you can. We’ll handle the rest.
Kitchen flooding or toilet backing up in BS3? Don’t wait it out. Call 0117 939 1421, day or night.
Emergency Plumber Bedminster FAQs
Locals ask us these questions all the time, often while they’re standing in an inch of water. Here are quick, honest answers to help you get through those first few minutes before we arrive.
How Fast Can You Get to Bedminster?
As we’re based in BS3, Bedminster is one of the quickest areas for us to reach. Arrival times depend on traffic and how busy we are, but we’ll give you an honest estimate when you call.
Do You Cover Southville, Windmill Hill and Ashton?
Yes. We cover all of BS3 and the surrounding areas, including Bishopsworth, Bedminster Down and Ashton Vale.
My Water’s Gone Off. Is It a Leak or a Supply Problem?
Ask a neighbour first. If their water is off too, it’s probably a supply issue, so check Bristol Water for updates. If it’s just your home, call us.
The Leak Is Coming From the Flat Above. What Do I Do?
Let your neighbour or landlord know straight away, and switch off any electrics near the leak. Then call us. We can isolate the water and trace the source.
