Report a Plumbing Problem in Filton

Emergency Plumber in Filton: What to Do First
When water’s going where it shouldn’t, the first few minutes make a big difference to the damage. So here’s what to do while our emergency plumber is on the way to your Filton home.
Shut the Water Off
First, find your stopcock. It’s usually under the kitchen sink, but in some homes it’s in a cupboard under the stairs or next to the boiler. Then turn it clockwise until it stops. However, if it’s stiff, don’t force it, because old valves can snap.
Make the Area Safe
If water is near a light fitting or socket, switch that circuit off at the consumer unit. Next, move rugs, electricals and anything valuable out of the way. Finally, put towels and bowls down to catch what you can.
Get in Touch
Tell us what’s happening and where the water’s coming from. We’ll give you an honest arrival time based on where our engineers are working, and send the nearest available plumber.
For more on how our call-outs work, see our emergency plumber in Bristol page. We answer the phone 24/7.

Hidden Leaks and Low Water Pressure in Filton
Not every plumbing problem announces itself. In fact, some of the most common calls we get in Filton are for leaks you can’t see and water pressure that has slowly dropped.
Leaks Under Floors and Behind Walls
A damp patch on a ceiling, a musty smell or a water meter that keeps ticking with every tap off are all warning signs. Whether your pipes are copper or plastic, a weeping joint can go unnoticed for months. So we trace leaks carefully, with as little disruption as possible.
Unvented Hot Water Cylinders
If your home has an unvented cylinder, keep an eye on the small pipe outside or in the airing cupboard. When water drips from it, the cylinder may be over pressure, so don’t ignore it. These cylinders also need a yearly service by our qualified gas engineers.
Still Under Warranty?
If your home is less than two years old, the builder is usually responsible for fixing defects. Check your paperwork, or see NHBC’s guidance for homeowners if that’s your warranty provider. If the builder can’t come out quickly, we can help.
Hidden leak in your Filton home? Call 0117 939 1421 and we’ll find where it’s coming from.

We called MPW Group SW Ltd to request an emergency plumber after our macerator toilet got blocked. They were able to send someone out within the hour and gave the hourly price in advance so we knew how much we would potentially be spending which was a huge bonus. The Plumber (Zach I think it was) came out and was amazing. He was polite, explained everything and then removed the blockage, checked the drains and also took time to ensure that the blades in the unit were still in working order. Once he was done we had a call from the owner to check that all was ok and that we were happy with the service. He informed us how much it would cost and advised he would send the invoice across. We were happy with the amount considering the situation we were in. Thank you! Much appreciated and apologies for the delay in the review. I would recommend MPW in the future.Posted on Google![]()

Had a fantastic experience with Matt and his team. Had been let down on a few occasions for my air con install by other installers, Matt swooped in and came to my rescue. Working in the Plumbing Merchant industry, I can tell you first hand that the level of professionalism exhibited from MPW is top quality. Fair pricing and communication, topped off with a high quality install from his team. Highly recommend.Posted on Google![]()

Great service from booking to completion of the job. Very pleasant lady took the booking for a replacement kitchen tap at my elderly in-laws. Given Zak as the attending plumber who arrived at 8.30 on the dot. Zak was very efficient in replacing the tap doing it in no time at all,he was very polite and happy to answer any questions a good ambassador for the company. I would highly recommend MPW group and will definitely make them my first call when I next need the service of a plumber.Posted on Google![]()

Had to call out an emergency plumber on a Sunday as we had raw sewage backing up. Zak was quick and professional. It wasn't an easy problem to solve as it turned out that the severe weather had dislodged a gutter pipe and that was blocking our sewage drainage. Zak helped us remove it and even replaced some of the bits, legend.Posted on Google![]()

What a great team with fantastic service! We were on our way back from Belgium and in the Eurotunnel, when we got a call from our lodger to say that we had a burst pipe and could we get 'our' emergency plumber on the line. Suffice to say that we didn't have one, so I googled a bunch with no success at all. They either didn't pick up the phone or couldn't come for a few hours - not much use when you have water spouting everywhere! I then went on the BS9 Facebook page to look for recommendations, which is where I found the MPW group. My call got answered within a few rings, and they were able to send out 2 guys within 20 minutes to sort out the problem. They installed a new stop tap and replaced the broken limescale unit, and they mopped up all the water that had gushed all over the floor. We didn't meet the guys ourselves, but our lodger said they were very friendly, and they obviously did a great job for a very reasonable price. I have now saved them in my phone and will definitely be using them again for any plumbing needs. Highly recommended!Posted on Google![]()

We can't praise Zak and Alfie enough! They arrived within an hour of us phoning, and promptly found our leak (which a well-known plumbing company had denied was there on several occasions! 😡). They were able to fix the problem promptly and efficiently, with clear communication throughout. Thank you, Zak and Alfie - very impressed with the service given. We will definitely be using MPW again and recommending them to everyone!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Everyday Plumbing Across Filton
Filton sits just over the Bristol boundary in South Gloucestershire, around Gloucester Road North, Filton Abbey Wood station and the Brabazon development. Whatever kind of home you have, our plumbers are here for the everyday jobs too.
Taps, Toilets and Showers
Dripping taps, running toilets, leaking sink wastes and showers that have lost their pressure. No job is too small, and you’ll get the price before we start.
Noisy, Banging Pipes
If your pipes bang when you turn a tap off, it’s usually loose pipework or a pressure surge known as water hammer. We’ll secure the pipes or fit a small arrestor to stop it.
Who to Call for Water and Drains
Filton’s water comes from Bristol Water, so if the whole street has lost its supply, check with them first. Shared sewers belong to Wessex Water. Anything inside your boundary, we can sort.
Nearby Areas
Our plumbers also cover Horfield, Patchway, Bradley Stoke and Stoke Gifford.

Plumber Filton FAQs
Filton homes throw up a wide range of plumbing questions, so we’ve answered the ones that come up most often below.
Is Filton Part of Bristol? Do You Cover It?
Filton is in South Gloucestershire, just north of the Bristol boundary. However, we cover all of it, including Brabazon and the roads around Aerospace Bristol and Filton Abbey Wood.
Water Is Dripping From a Pipe Outside. Is That Serious?
It’s often the overflow from a toilet cistern or the discharge pipe from a hot water cylinder. Either one means something isn’t working properly, so get in touch and we’ll check it.
My Home Is Under Two Years Old. Should I Call You or the Builder?
Check with the builder first, because the repair may be covered. If it’s an emergency and they can’t attend, turn off the water and call us. We’ll also give you a written report for your warranty claim.
Why Has My Water Pressure Dropped?
It could be a partly closed stopcock, a hidden leak or a problem in the street. First, ask your neighbours. If it’s only your home, we’ll then find the cause.
My Boiler Has Stopped Too. Can You Help?
Yes. Our Gas Safe engineers handle emergency boiler repairs as well as plumbing, so one call covers both.
